What is so special about Lake Rabun and why has it led me to create a web site dedicated solely to provide you this direct link?
Memories, Friends, Smiles, Love of nature, Water sports, Hiking, Biking, Kayaking, and so much more.
First and foremost, I am a Lake Rabun Home Owner. When my wife, Dottie, and I purchased our home on Lake Rabun over 15 years ago, it was a dream come true for both of us. We both had spent weekends and vacations as children on this beautiful lake. We first met in Athens, GA after college days, and Lake Rabun was one of the early interst we shared. We feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to share our love of Lake Rabun with our daughter Jenny who spent most summers and winter weekends on this beautiful lake as she was growing up. Today, Jenny lives in Charleston, SC and is a real estate agent for Kiawah Island Real Estate Company; however, she call Lake Rabun "home".
Our family celebrates all major holidays at our lake house, sharing with friends and Lake neighbors. Easter Sunday Sunrise service is held nearby atop Blackrock Mountain and church services can be attended by boat each Sunday Morning throughout the summer months on the waters of Lake Rabun. Forth of July celebrations include a Wooden Boat Parade, followed by a barbeque held at the Pavilion. Dusk brings the fantastic waterfront fireworks display. As you can see, Easter and the Fourth of July are two of my favorites.
Hikes to Minnehaha Falls, bike rides around Lake Rabun, wakeboarding, boat surfing, kayaking with my dog or just enjoying some rest & relaxation in my hammock are just some of the reasons I love this lake. It is a true escape from the "real world".
Friends. It did not take us long to discover new friends on Lake Rabun and actually plan our weekend activities with them. It is quite exciting to look forward to the week's end or vacation time with those great friends we have made here over the years. It is so neat to visit dock side, cookout, watch those college football games fire side, take hikes, and raise our children all together in this beautiful place.
Smiles. The first time someone ski's or wakeboards there are smiles from ear to ear for both the person at the end of the ski rope as well for those in the boat. I cannot tell you how many first pulls I have provided and those smiles last a lifetime for us all.
Water Sports. With the size of Lake Rabun being approximately 6 miles from end to end, the normal ski boat size is around 20 feet. A lot of fun is had by those tubing, skiing and wakeboarding. The pontoon boats obviously provide the more stable platform for Cruising the lake when water sports are not the priority.
Memories. Lake Rabun is a life style, let the memories begin!
